Anonymous diary app

An anonymous diary that gets read.

Updated . Written by the Evening Pages team.

Evening Pages is an anonymous diary app for adults. You write one page a night, keep it private or share it, and a few real readers get shared pages at 8 pm their time. They see only your username and avatar.

What makes a diary anonymous here?

You sign in with Apple, Google or an email code, but readers never see any of that. A shared page shows a username and an avatar, nothing else. We do not ask you to use your real name, and we do not show follower or following lists to anyone but you.

Anonymous is not the same as untraceable. If you write your school, your street or your boss’s name, someone may work out who you are. The app blocks contact details, but what you choose to say about your own life is up to you. When in doubt, leave it out or keep that page private.

Is there an app where strangers read your diary?

Yes. On Evening Pages you can share a diary page, and a few real readers get it at 8 pm their local time. They see only your username and avatar. You choose, page by page, what is shared and what stays private.

Can I share my diary anonymously?

Yes. A shared page on Evening Pages shows a username and an avatar, not your real name. The app blocks links, emails, phone numbers and social handles in pages and comments, so contact details cannot slip out by accident.

Can I keep some diary entries private?

Yes. Every page is private or shared, your choice, page by page. A private page is visible only to you. You can also unpublish a shared page later.

How is it different from a private diary app?

Most diary apps are locked notebooks. That is the right choice for some pages, and Evening Pages has private pages too. The difference is that a shared page here has an audience. Some people write more when they know someone will read it, and a few kind readers each night is a small, low-pressure way to get that.

How do I get people to read my journal without followers?

On Evening Pages you do not need followers. Each shared page is delivered to a few real readers at 8 pm their time, so a new writer is read on the first night.

Is there an online diary where people can comment?

Yes. Readers on Evening Pages can leave a stamp (a small kind reaction), write a short comment, or follow you. Comments are limited to 500 characters, cannot contain links, and are checked before they show. You can turn comments off for any page.

Are shared diary pages on Google?

No. Shared pages and writer profiles are kept out of search engines on purpose, so what you write cannot be searched back to you. Anyone with the link to a shared page can still open it.

What is a page like?

You type, and it looks handwritten: pick a paper, a handwriting font, add stickers, washi tape and photos. Every 30 pages bind into a notebook with a cover. You can export your pages and delete your account whenever you like. Read more about the look on our aesthetic journal app page.

Is it safe to write honestly?

Every page and comment gets automated checks before it goes out, and some are held for a person to look at, because real diaries are sometimes dark. You can report or block anyone, and a person looks at every report. There are no direct messages. Read the community rules.
