Community rules

Evening Pages is a public space for private thoughts. It works because it feels safe to write honestly and to read kindly. These rules keep it that way. They apply to pages, comments, usernames, avatars and photos.
The rules
1. Be kind. This is a place for honest, gentle writing. No bullying, hate or harassment. You can write about hard days. You can't attack people for who they are.
2. Keep it safe. No sexual content. No nudity. No sharing phone numbers, addresses, social handles or other contact details, yours or anyone else's. No links.
3. Care for each other. Dark days are allowed in a diary. Encouraging self-harm, suicide or eating disorders is not. If someone may be in danger, report it. We'll make sure they see support resources. See Crisis resources.
4. Real people only. Write your pages yourself. AI-written pages are removed. Bots and fake accounts are banned. Evening Pages is written by people and read by people.
5. Only what is yours. Write about your own life. Leave out other people's private details. Don't post photos of people who haven't agreed, and don't post other people's work as your own.
6. 18 and over. Evening Pages is for adults. No content that sexualises or endangers minors, ever. We report this to the authorities where the law requires it.
7. Nothing illegal. No threats, no violence, no selling or promoting drugs, weapons or scams, and no content that breaks the law.
Zero tolerance
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive people. Content that breaks these rules is removed. People who break them can be warned, suspended or banned, and the worst cases are banned straight away.
Report and block
- Report a page, a comment or a person from its menu (the three dots). Pick a reason. Choose "Someone may be in danger" if you are worried about someone's safety.
- Block someone from their profile or one of their pages. Neither of you will see the other after that. You can undo it in Settings, Blocked users.
- You can also write to hello@eveningpages.app.
What we do about reports
A person looks at every report. We act within 24 hours: we remove content that breaks the rules, and we can warn, suspend or ban the account behind it. If you report something, the person you reported is not told who reported them.
Pages and comments are also checked by automated tools before they are shared, and some are held for a person to look at. Real diaries are sometimes dark, so a page about a hard time is looked at by a person and is not simply deleted by a machine.
If you disagree
If we removed something or closed an account and you think we got it wrong, write to hello@eveningpages.app and we will take another look.
