Evening Pages is a free diary app for adults on iPhone. You write one page a night, keep it private or share it, and a few real readers get shared pages at 8 pm. Here are the answers people ask for most.

What is Evening Pages?

Evening Pages is a diary app for adults on iPhone. You write one page a night on paper with handwriting fonts, stickers and photos. Each page is private or shared, and shared pages reach a few real readers at 8 pm their local time.

Is Evening Pages free?

Yes. Writing, sharing, reading, stamps, comments and follows are free. Evening Plus is optional: $5.99 a month, $29.99 a year or $79.99 once, with no free trial.

On the free plan you can write 3 pages a day, share 1, and add 1 photo to a page. See pricing for the full comparison.

Is Evening Pages anonymous?

Readers see only your username and avatar. We do not show your real name, and the app blocks links, emails, phone numbers and social handles in pages and comments. What you choose to write about your own life is up to you, so leave out anything that could identify you.

Who reads my page?

A few real readers, at 8 pm their local time. Each shared page is delivered to a small number of people, and you can see how many read it. You do not need followers. Anyone with the link to a shared page can also open it.

Can I keep some pages private?

Yes. Every page is private or shared, your choice, page by page. A private page is visible only to you. Private pages count for your streak too.

Can strangers message me?

No. There are no direct messages. Readers can only leave a stamp (a small kind reaction), a short comment, or follow you. You can turn comments off for a page and hide a comment.

Is it safe?

Every page and comment gets automated safety checks before it goes out, and some are held for a person to look at. You can report or block anyone, a person reviews every report, and crisis resources are built in.

Read the community rules and our crisis resources.

Is Evening Pages a therapy app?

No. It is a diary app, not therapy, a crisis service or an AI chat. If a page looks like you may be in danger, it shows you support resources.

Does Evening Pages use AI?

There is no AI chat, no AI writers and no AI replies. Pages are written by people and read by people. Automated checks, which include AI moderation, look at pages and comments for safety. Our privacy policy lists who processes them.

See the privacy policy.

Is there an infinite feed or an algorithm?

No infinite feed. Readers get up to 3 pages a day, once, at 8 pm their time, and there is a Discover tab if you choose to browse. Likes, comments and follower counts never affect which pages are delivered.

More on this in our guide to slow social media.

How do streaks work?

A day counts when you write any page, private ones included. A missed day can be filled in up to 2 days later by backdating a page. Evening Plus adds 2 automatic streak freezes a month.

What is a notebook?

Every 30 pages bind into a finished notebook with a cover. The free plan has 1 notebook in progress. Evening Plus has unlimited notebooks.

What does Evening Plus add?
